The International Conference on Creation of a Dynamic Electronic Services Market organised by the Seimas Information Society Development Committee, the Ministry of Transport, the Lithuanian Innovation and Technology Institute and the Infobalt Association took place in Constitution Hall of the Seimas at 9 a.m.on Friday, November 27th. At the conference, representatives of Lithuanian authorities and businesses as well as guests from abroad talked about the present situation in the creation of electronic services as well as the anticipated prospects.
The following topics was discussed at the conference: 2020 outlook for electronic services development principles and strategic directions, possibilities for the use of open public sector data, public sector IT development trends, best practice for the creation of business and public-sector electronic services, and opportunities for including private sector know-how and resources in the development of public IT infrastructure and services using EU structural funds. Opportunities for Nordic-Baltic cooperation in the development of the digital market was presented, as prospects for the leadership of the Baltic Sea Region countries in the European digital market and the role of international networks and ecosystems in the development of the digital market. According to Mindaugas Bastys, chairman of the Seimas Information Society Development Committee, it is already time to begin so that by 2017, the forces of the institutions which carry out formation of the policy of the entire ICT sector are rallied, which would allow for the timely preparation of strategic plans and the provision of specific actions in creating and maintaining the services which have already been developed. “It is very important what priorities will be provided for in the process of creating an information society. The establishment of all the processes in strategic documents is a very important factor which must already begin to be implemented now, and the necessary decisions must be adopted by 2020,” said Mr Bastys.
